Technology and Organization uses for Adult Education and Training

What technologies are currently in use?
The technlogies Walmart currently have in use are internet for data exchange with thousands of its global suppliers, radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, and Web 2.0. social networking tools and contracts with Oracle and Hewlett-Packard
How does the organization manage those technologies?
- “The company has an IT department to handle any and
all maintenance of the systems.
- Tech support is supplied by some of the technology
companies that Wal-Mart lease/buy equipment from.

How does the organization address concerns such as the type and size of bandwidth and the capability of implementing Web 2.0 tools?
Radio frequency
identification and working with MIT on the development of "cheap chips. Cheap
chips replace bar codes over time
We’re plugged into the research and development labs
of all of our key suppliers, whether it is Cisco, IBM, NCR, AT&T
or HP. We spend a lot of time in Bell Labs, and research centers

What upgrades or changes are necessary to provide better technology integration for adult learning opportunities?
Voice over IP will certainly take off and will lower
costs and help from an infrastructure standpoint, using more voice recognition
technology, Also have a team of folks that helps us do proof of concept and
pilot key technologies, associate portal and devices on our sales floors,
computer-assisted selling, ubiquitous storage within the next three years that
will help us truly drive anywhere-anytime-anything computing, development team expected
to get out and do the function before they do the system specification, design
or change analysis.
